Mrs. Drosman's Class Visits Stop & Shop

On Monday, November 15th, Mrs. Drosman's 6th grade class spent the morning at Stop & Shop supermarket in West Hempstead. They were there to shop for a good cause. After raising $300 through a class recycling initiative, a car wash sponsored by two students in the class, and donations from their families, students went shopping for items to fill the Thanksgiving tables of those in need. Items purchased were donated to The Sienna Outreach Center and will be given to local families in need. Mrs. Drosman and her class continue to demonstrate that it's always "Cool to Care!"

Fall Festival 2010

Washington Street School's annual Fall Festival was held on Saturday, October 2nd. It was a beautiful, sunny day, and the school and community spirit that makes Franklin Square such a wonderful place to live, work and play was alive and well. The Washington Street School PTA, led by co-presidents Vicki Gioia and Angela Gunn and Fall Festival organizers Tina and Anton Bruchhauser, outdid themselves with games, vendors and delicious food. Extra kudos go to our resident zeppole bakers and the "top chef" who made the sausage and peppers . . . Yum! Also a big thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Coucoulas who, each year, delightfully "scare" us with the, now famous, "Spook Walk." Enjoy this small sampling of the smiles that made the day such a success . . . . Thank you, PTA!
